93 years before WW1, 65 years before the first motor car, 26 years before Queen Victoria was crowned, and only six years after the ending of the Napoleonic Wars – the world was a very different place when the original Wolfburn Distillery was built. 200 years is a truly huge milestone, so our challenge was to create an equally superb whisky to mark the occasion. 

Crafted from spirit matured in six-year-old first-fill Oloroso sherry hogsheads, married with whisky from the very first cask laid down in the new distillery (2013#1), this is a special dram indeed. There are just 1821 bottles in total, each of which is sequentially numbered. 

Aromas of figs and apricots mix with soft oak tones. Oloroso sherry warmth comes gently to the fore. The depth of flavour is tremendous. Honey-laced porridge meets stewed apples and sultanas. Wolfburn’s trademark smooth spirit brings with it a touch of heat while soft oak spices (cinnamon, cloves and ginger) are also present, all overlaid by a wonderful sweetness. The finish does not disappoint; dried fruit and caramel flavours remain to the end and are neatly overlaid with hints of lingering oak smoke.
